INTC/LEVL deal:

The acquisition of Level One marks Intel's largest in a string of recent deals focused on its networking business. Intel was making networking a big focus because it realized that in order for customers to buy higher cost PCs with more processing power, they must have faster networking capabilities and the ability to get more kinds of data through the network. Unlike Vitesse, Level One is a ''fabless'' semiconductor company, meaning that it does not manufacture its own chip designs, but contracts them out to other companies.

I suspect that the deal will have a negative impact on PMCS and BRCM and will have little or no effect on VTSS.

By the way, three possible scenarios for Tim Kellis, the analyst who downgraded LEVL today:
1. gets fired for making such a terrible call for his clients,
2. gets sued for conspiracy,
3. gets stabbed by those who sold the stock at $25 today.
