I can still remember getting soundly scolded for taking (gasp) a drink of water about 55 minutes before my first communion. I would faint regularly at long masses, which I was required to attend. Now that is child abuse on a large scale. It was very common to have 2 or 3 children fainting at every mass. We were always told that it was nothing compared to the suffering of Christ on the cross.
