steve,

Don't thank David.....thank me. I'm awarding you the Wendell for the Wells Fargo dig. Your 38th Wendell, I think.

All of the banks in Twin falls use the thumb print.....all of them. They only hand the bad check over to the cops if the check is bad....so that they can track down the offender.

Problem is.....the "offender"......keeps doing it over and over again, because it is the same people.....and they are not afraid of the thumb print, because the teller has no data base to compare it to.

Go figure.....they can end the problem by being hooked up to a data base of bad check cashers....and then taking the thumb print by a device......get an instant response.

Do the banks lose big bucks with check fraud?......Yes they do.

Check out any new ATM machine you see....they all have little pre-cut holes that are filled in with a piece of plastic. Look for them very near where your index finger would be as you slide in the card.

I'm on the stage coach......just waiting for the driver to crack the whip.

The driver.....is my pal....Bill Gates. Introducing Windows 2000 in Chicago........April 19....I think he will use the "B" word......perhaps the "I" word?

Best to get on the stage by then, Slim........don't want to be left standing at the station.....waiting for the next one. Jeesh.
