SkyStream and International Datacasting Selected for Loral Orion's
WorldCast Broadband Internet Infrastructure

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. (March 4) BUSINESS WIRE -March 4, 1999--

World Leader in Data Communications Selects Award Winning Data Broadcasting Solution to
Enhance High Speed Global Infrastructure

SkyStream Corporation announced today that it has been awarded a contract by International
Datacasting Corporation (IDC) to supply its DBN-26 Intelligent Conditional Access and Data
Injector product for integration into Loral Orion's WorldCast broadband Internet backbone
infrastructure. SkyStream will provide Loral Orion with data and security injection products to
support advanced business telecommunications and IP services to the worldwide marketplace.

SkyStream's DBN-26 Intelligent Conditional Access and Data Injector product, a key component
of IDC's Superflex satellite broadcasting system, was selected for Loral Orion's worldwide
communication infrastructure. SuperFlex is a highly flexible digital satellite networking system
designed to distribute data, audio and video services by satellite. The system incorporates
advanced technology using Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), Internet and MPEG international
standards. As part of the SuperFlex implementation, Loral Orion will use the DBN-26 to securely
combine data and video services at multiple satellite ground stations around the globe, including
locations in Hawaii and the eastern United States. Internet/Intranet and other high-speed IP
content can be easily encapsulated, scrambled and distributed from these ground stations to
locations around the world.

"In the global explosion of the Internet, SkyStream is committed to developing a high-speed digital
infrastructure that allows for faster access to richer information," says Jim Olson, CEO of
SkyStream. "Loral Orion's WorldCast services is an ideal example of how an industry leader with
a worldwide presence can take advantage of SkyStream's innovative technology to solve one of
the Internet industry's biggest challenges to date: providing ISPs, enterprise and consumers with a
broader infrastructure to move content cohesively and easily around the world."

The DBN-26, the newest member of SkyStream's Integrator product family, is a complete DVB
data encapsulation and security product. A primary feature of the product is that it can integrate
any number of Conditional Access Security (CAS) systems to scramble video or data channels in
the transmission. Using a DBN-26, a broadcaster can combine high speed IP or data content with
a fully multiplexed, DVB-compliant MPEG-2 video transport stream, and deliver it to any
standard set-top or PC-based receiver via DVB satellite transmission.

SkyStream's family of Integrator products include the DBN-24 DVB data encapsulator, the
DBN-25 DVB data injector, and the recently announced DBN-26 Conditional Access Injector.
These products allow satellite and Internet service providers to create complete data broadcasting
systems with an open network architecture. The DBN-25 and DBN-26 utilize SkyStream's
award-winning Null Packet Optimizer(TM) (NPO) software, which allows broadcasters to
opportunistically inject Internet and IP data into the otherwise unusable space of an incoming
MPEG video bitstream. The bandwidth saved using this technology can range from 2-10 percent
of a satellite's transponder bandwidth. With full multi-protocol encapsulation (MPE) software to
create industry-compatible streams of data, any DVB-compliant set-top receiver or PCI card can
receive satellite content created by these products. About Loral Orion
