Hummm.. very interesting discussion of the audio / video player wars to come. I for one do not think that it's AXC's goal to get that deep into a consumer product. My vision is that it is a complete suite of web video services that AXC will bring to the table. Their strength lies in the legacy of Ampex broadcast and digital storage products for commercial applications. To pursue an end-user product like a video player seems too far afield from their core competencies. I 'd also have to agree with Carl as far as mass consumer branding of a video technology. One way or another all of the competing technologies both extant and to come will reach a point of little to no visible difference in quality. They have to, or they will fall by the wayside. Differences in quality will be a short lived phenomenon. For AXC to jump into this market they'd have to go for broke and devote everything they had to it. I'd be worried if they plan a true mass-market consumer product. It's a completely different ballgame from what they are used to. I have to admit though, the Malboro man has me wondering. Keep up the good work everyone. I really miss posting here. I just do not have the time anymore. Oddly eonough, sometimes half the enjoyment of this board is appreciating the different personalities and keeping in touch with the AXC "community" here. The fact that we're witnessing the birth of an internut stock is icing on the cake! Regards, Sean
