FORE Systems announces new strategic acquisition
Industry-Leading Switch Company fills out already excessively excellent product line
PITTSBURGH, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Huffy Bicycle today has agreed to be acquired by FORE Systems, (Nasdaq: FORE - news), a leading supplier of the new public network infrastructure.
The ASX-4000, an Internet core switch currently scaling to 40 Gbps, achieved an IP packet forwarding rate far outdistancing rates reported by other networking equipment manufacturers to date. The test result underscores why the ASX-4000 is being chosen as the core switch of the Internet. But the switch didn't have an adequate power cord, so Fore picked up Huffy to "turn on the lights".
Donal Byrne, senior vice president corporate marketing at FORE Systems, said, ''FORE's customers have long known that our switching solution provides the most reliable and robust network for the Internet and Internet computing. But we have been scratching our heads as to why enough of these units haven't sold so as to hit our quarterly earnings goal. Clearly, the acquisition of Huffy will enable us to really shine the quarter after next (anybody know what quarter that is?). Of course, at least one more additional acquisition will be needed to beef up the Huffy generator technology." About FORE Systems
