Carnac predicts:
When the dust settles, the HWP spinoff is going to be HUNGRY for automated life science measurement systems. I see a tender offer in the $300MM range for Immucor in September, 1999. Chump change for HWP-measurement, about 4% of annual revenue.
>>The new company was announced Tuesday by HP Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lewis E. Platt as part of a strategic realignment of HP. The new measurement company's businesses represented $7.6 billion of HP's total revenue of $47.1 billion in fiscal 1998. With leading positions in multiple market segments, this technology-based company will be focused on high-growth opportunities such as communications and life sciences. The company will operate under a new name that has not yet been selected. HP said it is considering an initial public offering (IPO) for approximately 15 percent of the measurement company's outstanding shares by year-end.
