It appears we have another positive development. I have heard from more than one source that Valence batteries are being used in the Mars space program. If there is an application that requires the highest possible level of performance, lightest weight and reliability, it is one with millions of investment dollars and political futures at stake when failure of any one component or system can ruin the project.

I wonder what competitors were also-rans. As with government and military development, release and timing of the announcement is not up to Valence. Remember Valence's role in producing the Army's OICW(M15 replacements) batteries was not announced, but confirmed separately by Alliant Tech's I.R. spokesman during a discussion with a broker.

I have heard the company has had "no trouble getting contracts" since last Fall, and they are in the drivers seat for selecting the best and most lucrative offers and more than one "program" for integrating Valence batteries inside portable computers have been in place for many months. These programs represent very large capital outlays by OEMs. It is unlikely they would be cancelled due to lack of demand for portable computers with 50% longer battery life!

Again, it is not a matter of "if", but "when" contracts will be announced. We could have one next week. There is a consensus that one will be announced by the end of March.
