OT: Right, TigerPaw, but if the universe is filled with civilizations, many older, more advanced, the galaxy would be saturated with signals. There are none!
Milky Way stretches 100K light years. Unless spontaneously generated life is very recent, and few believe it so, EIT races have been broadcasting for multiple millennia. The question isn't how long we've been listening, Tiger, it's how long they've been sending. "They" haven't!
How would you like to be the bright young fella who hired on with an SETI project in the '50s, now you're retiring, your whole life spent listening to meaningless static? The evidence says we're alone! So do many experts:
Nigel Calder, described as England's foremost science writer states in Spaceships of the Mind that we are the only intelligent life to be found in our galaxy.
Physicist and cosmologist John Wheeler's says the chances are overwhelming that we are the only life in the entire universe.
Sir Bernard Lovell, famed British astronomer believes that our presence on Earth is the result of a train of events so unlikely as to reduce to zero the chances of intelligent life evolving elsewhere
British astronomer Sir Fred Hoyle: "Rather than accept the fantastically small probability of life having arisen through the blind forces of nature, it seemed better to suppose that the origin of life was a deliberate intellectual act."
Either Mind created Matter, or Matter created Mind! If the second be true, scratch the laws of thermodynamics, for the effect is greater than the cause. Wrote Richard Leakey in ORIGENS: Ultimately it's a matter of faith. Know that Jehovah is God. It is He that made us, not we ourselves! Tiger, this reality permits our race the prospect of an eternal future! Can you think of a better deal than that?
Best Regards, Tiger Paw!
