Please help with a dumb question about short positions. It's my first time shorting a stock, and now that I've done it, I want to set a limit order to buy it back (buy to cover) at my price target. Do I set a simple limit buy at my price target, or will this trigger an immediate buy because it's below the stock's current price? Do I set a stop limit buy, or will this trigger as well, since my stop activation price is below the stock's current price? Or do I set a stop order? It's confusing.

Or is it impossible to enter automatic limit orders to buy back short positions?

David
