Well it may be the time to buy into the oil patch again its hard to see things getting much worse .if one could be sure that epic was going to survive and in fact had some decent prospects for making revenue some time in the future then clearly the price cant drop much further .one thing it does have in its favor is no debt though there are a lot of shares out there and i suspect the company continues to sell shares to stay alive .
its extraordinary to see how short term orientated the market has now become ,for example my wife owns a very well run natural gas utility stock called atmos energy ,it has raised its dividend every year for more than 20 years.it had one bad quarter due to the fact that is has been a warm winter in the south so it didnt sell as much gas as expected ,the price of the stock is down 50% from its high .the company is very well run ,is expanding gradually and has a bad quarter due to weather events beyond its controle and yet the stock is massacred .heaven alone knows what would happen to ebay or yahoo if they had a bad quarter .
interesting stuff in the wsj about the vancouver stock exchange and its attempts to clean things up and also a story about brokers fleeing the vse .probably the sign of a bottom in the vse natural resource stocks ,many of my remaining vse socks are trading around 2 cents canadian ,hopefully something will arise from the ashes.arh
