TIC Cables electronica y suministros, S.A. de C.V. Will Have Access
to Full Line of Low-Cost, High Performance Remote Access Products
MEXICO CITY, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- TIC Cables electronica y suministros, S.A. de C.V., one of this city's major value-added resellers for data communications products, and OpenROUTE(R) Networks, Inc., a leading provider of remote access routers, today announced an agreement whereby TIC Cables will distribute, install and support OpenROUTE Networks products across Mexico. The agreement was announced at the ExpoComm-Mexico networking trade show.
With this agreement, TIC Cables joins OpenROUTE Networks' Premier Access Partner Program which was developed to reinforce OpenROUTE Networks long- standing commitment to indirect sales channels. As a key partner in this program, TIC Cables will have access to OpenROUTE Networks' low-cost, leading edge GlobeTrotter remote access routers which offer WAN connectivity for Asynchronous, Synchronous, Frame Relay, ISDN, Fractional E1 and E1 links. Additionally, TIC Cables will re-sell a full line of local area networking products manufactured by Proteon, Inc., parent company of OpenROUTE Networks Inc.
Founded in 1989, TIC Cables began as a major distributor of cables and connections for the telecommunications industry. The company has since grown dramatically and improved its ability to meet the needs of customers with LAN and WAN implementations. TIC Cables has service and distribution centers in three areas of Mexico: Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterey. The company also has a major operation in Bogota, Colombia. TIC provides networking services to major corporations with facilities in Mexico, including Mercedes- Benz, Banco Mexicano and Multibanco Comermex.
Jesus Aguirre, TIC Cables president, said, "This expanded relationship with OpenROUTE Networks gives us access to some of the fastest and most cost- effective remote access products in the marketplace today. "Our mission is to provide productive and effective integrated solutions for LANs and WANs, with ongoing support of our clients in the performance of their jobs. OpenROUTE Networks' high quality remote access products help us achieve that goal. The OpenROUTE Networks' products are clearly differentiated in the market, and we expect to be recommending them in many current and future network installations," he added.
OpenROUTE Networks was formed earlier this year as a wholly owned subsidiary of Proteon, Inc. with a charter to deliver low-cost, high performance remote access routers to the fast growing Internet and Intranet market. Tim Greer, OpenROUTE Networks vice president for the Americas, said, "The formation of the OpenROUTE Networks subsidiary allows us to focus on our core competencies in remote access routing and ultimately grow the business and market share.
"Increasingly, customers are seeking high performance access to the Internet or to their internal networks from remote locations, but they don't want to pay the traditional high prices associated with other vendors' routers. Our fully interpretable routers give the customer a low-cost alternative while still attaining the desired level of performance," added Greer.
Premier Partner Program Benefits
As part of the Premier Access Partner Program, OpenROUTE Networks will provide TIC Cables with technical and sales training, free technical support, evaluation and beta testing programs. In addition, OpenROUTE Networks will also actively participate in joint sales calls, provide TIC Cables with qualified sales leads, and participate in local and joint marketing activities. TIC Cables will also receive early access to new products and technical information, as well as be eligible for a major demonstration/evaluation equipment program. TIC Cables first began working with Proteon, Inc. back in early 1996.
Greer added, "This agreement expands OpenROUTE Networks' reach in a very important market. Users across Mexico have come to expect products and service that effectively address their needs. We believe that OpenROUTE Networks' products -- in particular the GlobeTrotter remote access routers -- will allow users in this region to improve their network performance and grow their businesses. We are excited to be working with one of the top resellers in this part of the world."
