Because they believe they will be less expensive rather than more, sooner rather than later. The company is probably a long-term buy, but does not preclude common shares at prices below $5 in the near-future.

Management understands, as well as the market in general, the many issues that challenge the company's profitability near-term: i.e., the resolution of an industry challenge to their latest product, and competition from new entrants with superior execution ability, like Creative Technologies.

P.S. Nobody sells a large portion of their endowment in anticipation of a greater return should they wait a bit, it is not consistent with human behavior.
