Last year I rebuilt the engine in my son's Jeep Wrangler. Had over 145k miles on it. He and I pulled the thing out and took it apart. I took the block to the rebuilder. My son was anxious to get it going so he could do more 4 wheeling. ( you leave the back of my house and it is straight up to 11,000 feet of the most pristine land in the west. Elk, bear, deer, mountain lions ) Anyway, it took the rebuilder three weeks because he is so good at what he does he is backlogged. He had to order parts. Some of them were backordered and took an extra two weeks. By the time we got it back and then had to find new hoses, etc., etc. we had almost 9 weeks go by. My son was so impatient but now he drives that thing over any road, goes on the highway and he and I know that the engine is solid. I don't worry about it. I could get in the car and drive it to New York City if I wanted to because I KNOW THE JOB WAS DONE RIGHT!! It took time. A valuable lesson for my son to learn because his generation is used to instant gratification. If they go to McDonald's and it takes over 3 minutes the bitching starts. He learned that to get a job done right takes what it takes. Have you all any stories like mine that you remember? MRPS may be one I add to my storehouse of tales. I need ot remember to settle down. I would love it to pop to $15 this afternoon so I could buy a ticket on the SST and go to Paris for lunch. Damn I wish it would hurry. Only 12 minutes left.
