Hello Andrew
The map on SUF's web site shows this pipe on or near the southwest shore of Lac du Gras just east of the DHK most eastern property and pipe cluster. An economic pipe, even an A-21 would probably need a sibling or two to justify mine development. I suspect the market looks at this strike in part with that in mind and in part with the baggage of the lack of success achieved to date in the DHK area. Lets face it, a lot of people got burned on the NWT diamond play originally when DHK came up snake eyes on their pipes (DO-18) to the southeast and like Marfontein, investors have long memories.
I have no knowledge of this pipe's chemistry but previous DHK NR's have indicated that Kennecott has considerably renewed activity in and around the DHK Block. Considering all the other places on all of their assorted properties Kennecott could be actively pursuing pipes, and in light of the new sonic sampling and geophysical techniques, there must be some pretty interesting findings (pyropes) for them to be back working in this area.
I am not intimately familiar with the immediate geology of this site but I suspect that it is very similar to that found almost due north at the Ekati Mine and east - northeast at Diavik. More importantly, it is very close to the centre line of the TEH, TQY, DMM, ABZ, MPV Corridor of Hope, and one could comfortably suggest, well within it's generally assumed parameters.
In general, pipes in and around Lac du Gras have been running roughly 1-9 economic. Historically, only maybe two pipes in a cluster is economic with the NWT having proved the general exception to this rule. I would suggest that just based on the general trend, there is a reasonable likelihood that at least one pipe in this eastern cluster is economic and if Ekati, Diavik and Kennedy Lake are any indication, this may just be one of what might be several. This cluster is probably overdue for a winner.
If I hear anything about the chemistry I will let the thread know, but since Kennecotte is the operator, I would not count on that information being made available.
