I'm still digesting this whole thing. I'll comment briefly on the "fit" of the deal, in that I think its a better fit than either Solution 6 or Open Text.

Solution 6 - just gut feel, but DXX shareholders owning 75% of a practice management company located in Australia, when the bigger growth market is in DM and KM... well, I just don't like that mix.

Open Text - I don't think this was a good fit from a user community basis. PC DOCS still derives something like 45-50% of its revenue in the DM space from the legal community. I don't think Open Text has that much affinity for that vertical. Secondly, no offense intended to the legal community, but they tend to travel in waves/packs. A hint of being abandoned and we'd see Netright with a lot more business - whether Open Text intended to abandon legal or not.

There was a lot of overlap between Open Text and DOCS, and in the areas where Open Text is distinct I think their big challenge is Microsoft and Lotus. Surely you've seen the Lotus R5 "I Am" commercials? This is turf that Open Text is trying to go after. I don't think they will win that one in the end. They have a nice product. It isn't a sustainable competitive advantage.

Lastly, I hope that HUM and DOCS management get to work on explaining BI and KM jargon in ways that the user community can relate to. I think some underestimate the power of sentiment in the user community.
