You're correct. More products are being developed to provide indexing, leaving those outside the indexes in the dustbin... S&P Index Mutual Funds Depository Receipts for S&P, DJIA, and next the Nasdaq-100 Leveraged Mutual Funds for S&P Index and Nasdaq-100 Index Depository Receipts for S&P Market Sectors Leveraged Mutual Funds for S&P Market Sectors Focus Funds that hold 15-20 stocks: ex. Janus 20, Strong 20, Berger Select, Legg Mason Focus, etc. Diversified Focus Funds that hold 50-100 stocks: Strong 100, Fidelity 50, etc ... Outside of the products arena is the Internet electronic day traders which concentrate on a handful of stocks for momentum trading.
