<India> Software Vs Hardware.

Mark:

Thanks very much for that article in Deccan Herald about the Hardware industry in India. It appears that government has given plenty of incentives to the Software industry in the country vis-a-vis Hardware, the reason probably is that software brings in export revenue while the other most likely not.The main contention of the hardware industry seems to be an increase in excise duty but according to the following report the government may still implement more favorable laws for the hardware industry with in a short period of time though it wasn't included in the budget.

According to HP the Indian PC market is to grow 90-95% for the next 5 years,if so it would very unwise for the government not to pass market friendly laws soon,in my opinion.

[BTW my cousin and class mate is the business editor for Deccan Herald,I thought I just throw that in for the sake of small-talk (g)]

We do expect the scheme to be announced in next few weeks. Only reason it wasn't announced at the budget could be the scheme has not yet received Cabinet clearance...
