There finally was an anti-Internet-stock editorial in our local paper, where the writer ran down all the arguments we have seen here, including the South Sea Bubble comparison. But no one has ever so much as breathed a word in that paper about the book value multiple and P/Es of the blue chips.

CNBC ran an interview yesterday with a conservative analyst located in Savannah, who stated quietly that this was the most overvalued stock market ever seen in this country. I wouldn't want to exaggerate the influence that forums such as ours might have in prompting greater responsibility by those who wield much greater media power, but as I recall Ted David did seem to feel the point of criticisms voiced here about the continual upbeat endorsement of the bull market that we questioned.
