Windows2000 is going to be a huge success--official launch date is still this fall.
MSFT is great at creating standards with their own products at the the vey center. I think you might be underestimating Microsoft.
It is very hard to shift away from something that corporations have trained so many of their people in. Not only that, those people won't want to learn different applications that accomplish what for example Office would do. There is enough training in this and a lot of comfort level. This is MSFT's great strategy. By the time Linux establishes itself, the development and support costs will actually be more than NT.

Remember this company is run by brilliant people who see potential threats well in advance of them actually materializing. I think you are underestimated Microsoft---a company that blew away Lotus123 and Corel WordPerfect in record speed.
Watch what happens to Linux, SUN, IBM once Windows2000 is released as far as these companies' software is concerned.

I think people pay too much attention to the analysts who come on TV and state the potential of Linux and others. The same analysts predicted Windows98 won't be a big seller. They were wrong in a big way!!!!! I personally had no doubts that Win98 was going to be big.
