Apples and Oranges..... VXML is the standardization of how voice recognition (as in the digitization of analog signals into data, where it is then up to the user where it is stored). It is not a data network standard on how it is traversed on data network facilities, as VoIP is. VXML would play a key row in being integrated into browsers as a front-end to a VoIP engine (the easy part). The voice recognition part of acuratly converting an analog voice signal to a digital signal of any individual without having to "train" the program to each speaker is indeed a very difficult task.
