You make good points here, Berney. I suppose I pick the wrong thread for my post due to some of the reasons you have listed. But I am always surprised how traders, and this can include myself from time to time, cannot see the "obvious". I think it must be their biases (and mine) coming into play. It is frustrating when this happens to me. And it is perplexing to me when I see it happen to others.

Also I agree that is can be helpful to understand the longer term trend. But by some of the posts I see, I sometimes thing the long term that is being discussed is well into the future compared to the time frame the trader is operating in. But I understand that what works for them is what is important here.

So in retrospect, I would like to hear from posters on this thread about what they think were the significant market events and indications that could of foretold of this breakout by the market. Maybe we all can learn from this given how bearish the market was looking just prior to this breakout.
