Dear John :

A "profound realization of God's presence" and baptism of the Holy Spirit. We have to be careful here because we are talking of the trinity, which I do not mind saying I have never understood and neither can I explain " Our Father 'which ' art in heaven.

But lets look at the following verses.

Luke 11:13
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

John 1:33
And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

John 7:39
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

In the verse in Luke it is the Father that gives the Holy Spirit to those that ASK. But in John 1:33 it is Christ that baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. How do I know?? because John is talking of John the Baptist as he was commissioned to baptize with water; but when John the Baptist saw the spirit descend and stay on Christ it was that person " CHRIST" that would baptize with the Holy Ghost. Not the Father.

So in John chap 7:39 . This same Jesus is saying that the Holy Spirit will eventually be given to those that believe in him but after He was glorified. Notice that again he did not say he would give the Holy Spirit but the giving of the Holy Spirit is given by the Father.

In John 1:33 it is Jesus that gives the baptism of the Holy Ghost, not the giving of the spirit by the Father but the baptism of the Holy Ghost. These are two different events, by separate persons of the trinity, and not to be confused with each other.

If you are saying that these are the one and the same then we have a difference of understanding and I would respect that in you; so if so I have quoted scripture to support my views I would ask that you do the same.....In Christ. gregor
