1king:

I just spent an hour looking for the other references using Georef (a geological reference data base). Mr. Charters will have to provide you with the references himself (if he can) because searching the various names he suggested for papers on Ni-bearing VMS deposits proved useless.

Sangster (mispelled Sanster?) put out 100's of papers but none have nickel in the key words.

Holyk published 5 papers but there are only a couple that deal with gold, and none with nickel.

Neither Parke or McDiarmid wrote a paper on nickel deposits although Guilbert and Park (1986) in their textbook "The geology of ore deposits" point out on page 616 that massive sulphide deposits associated with black smokers on the ocean floor can contain nickel in the ppm range.

References for Darke do not indicate any work on nickel deposits.

An alternative source for arguments on the origin of Ni-bearing VMS deposits might be found in papers on the Kambalda Camp in western Australia. One paper that you might be able to locate is by Paterson, Donaldson, Smith, Lenard, Gresham, Boyack and Keays (1984) entitled - Nickeliferous sediments and sediment-associated nickel ores at Kambalda, Western Australia. This paper can be found on pages 81-94 of a volume called "Sulphide deposits in mafic and ultramafic rocks" edited by Buchanan and Jones.
