Wireless has an excellent chance of becoming better than other last mile technologies; Qualcomm's pdQ will offer T-1 rate access in any CDMA area. Affording mobility but using scarcer and more contested spectrum than cable modems and DSL, wireless will be more expensive. Microwave T-1 links from Teligent, Nextlink, and Winstar will be cheaper and better than new wireline links in hundreds of thousands of business buildings.
