Nikkei rises above 15,000, aided by U.S. rally

TOKYO, March 8 (Reuters) - Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei average rose above 15,000 in
early morning trade on Monday, breaching that level for the first time since December 11,
1998.

Improved sentiment in Tokyo, following the Nikkei's five percent surge on Friday, received an extra boost from a rally in New
York stocks on Friday and the yen's weakening trend against the dollar, traders said.

At 0020 GMT the Nikkei was up 140.82 points or 0.95 percent at 15,034.82.
