There is nothing I disagree with in your post! Nothing! I am making generalizations about what serves as an advantage and what doesn't. Some men prefer extremely fat women. I'm saying only that everything else being equal, the slender twin will have a mating advantage, in our society, with most men, over her non-slender sister. But if the slender twin is a dope or the non-slender one is rich or warm or delightful company, the balance changes, of course.
And of course sex is in the mind. Almost all of it. Bodies act on minds, as do other things: power, health, money, intelligence, smelling right, charm, decency, looking like (or not looking like) the parent of that sex, etc.
And of course all these 'calculations' we animals make (we are the Discovery channel to a shocking degree) are repugnant to our conscious, and conscientious, selves. So we invented romance. |
