Earlie: Today I visited a COMPUSA in my area. The parking lot was
mobbed. It turned out that HP was having a special "deal" on selected
products. There 7-8 HP guys on the floor. Many people were buying
printers. They all seemed to think that the prices were great. The
computer section was dead. I spoke with a kid who had not seen a sale
today(4:00PM+/-). He said there had been a few P-3 sales last week. He
knew of no trouble with them. There were lots of Compaqs and IBM's.
I next visited Best Buys. They were nowhere near as crowed as COMPUSA,
but they were not giving away printers. Lots of appliance buyers, lots
of DVD TV action, lots of software action. The computer section was
void of customers. I could not find a kid from whom to pry any info.
The cashiers' lines were short. No computers seen. Purchased were
microwaves and CD players during my brief, non-scientific observations.

The security folks in these stores kept looking at me like I was not
there on a normal mission. I must work on my disguises and attitudes.

Best wishes,

Bob Miller
