Taking time to check out our acquistion, TVontheWeb, ya' know, kick the tires via my mouse <G>. There is a couple hours of interviews, 10 to 15 minutes each, where Lisa Amore interviews Microsoft, CNBC Dow Jones, Encoding.com, etc...
The details of video are VERY educational when you think through what AMPEX is putting together. Definitions of what, how and why bandwidth is important, types of encoding, how CNBC charges their "viewers" for each "seat", etc. What a nightmareish storage problem they *ALL* have. As I listened to these interview(ees)s giving the nuts and bolts of their business functions the more comfortable and better educated we are with AMPEX's vision thing (the business model thing).
What I heard from the first 40 seconds of Microsoft(MS) interview is related to our "Marlboro Man"...Branding, and how MS distingishes thier "players"...((I have been trying to figure out this AMPEX branding thing) (like, brand what? what am I branding? etc.))
Tune In...

IMO, another speculation that AXC may look at partnering with APPLE computer? They are entrenched in the video image business. Just a WAG...(wild ass guess)
Ed Perry... excellant speculation on the Japanese connection...Sony...
Re: Mr. Mike "The Salesman" Cooper.
Mike O you asked the question "What relevance does this have..." Carl did the leg work...I am satisfied "The Salesman" is a staight shooter, thanks guys.
Anybody gotta' link to the transcripts of "Fireside Chat" with Mr. Personality? I am sure BAM, Jubimer, Hal, Art, Jill, Carol, Randy, Ed(s), etc. would like to read 'em.
