Secretly taping your hardware - MSFT pulling a Tripp on us!

All along I was warned by several people about Windows 98
automatically sending personal or private info to Microsoft
about a PC (not owned by Microsoft) that used Windows 98 to
connect to an ISP (like PacBell, don't know about AOL?). I
didn;t believe it because I thought that would be illegal,
and I also thought that a company like Microsoft won't risk
doing such a thing. But, now this is really disappointing.
I was considering upgrading my Windows 95 to Windows 98, but
now that is not going to happen.

This is definitely intentional with their justification being
they need to know if there are pirated copies of software.
This is like buying a stereo that sends secret codes to recording
companies about every song or tape you play on it!!
