Dwight,I dot know if you have been following what passes for a conversation over on Yahoo. There has been a lot of talk about Cellphone bandwidth and VRD. Did you know that one of the most amazing things about VRD is its ability to track the foveal region of your eye. What does this mean? Your eye only uses about 5% of the receptors (rods and cones) to focus on an object, the remainder, which are taking in the peripheral portion of your vision are relegated to a very low resolution. Since The VRD projects its image directly on the rods and cones, it is not necessary to display the entire field of view with high resolution. The drawback is that a more powerful processor is needed to continually update the image. The bottom line is, because of foveal tracking ability the VRD display is able to transmit the high resolution of the future NOW! with the existing bandwidth. The best development here recently is IBM's announcement of a more powerful cellphone processor chip, couple that with the VRD and I believe we have an unbeatable combination.
