Mohan, had a visit from my brother this weekend who is generally recognized by his siblings as the spiritual element of the family. He lived in an ashram in Ganeshpuri, about 80 km north of Bombay for approximately 3 years, from 1993 to 1995 and handled many of the technical aspects at the ashram.

He mentioned that he recalls having to pay on the order of a 125% levy on the purchase of imported computers back then. As the government changes, the import tax changes too, based on legislative changes (favors) owed to constituents. Sounds just like our Congress

But at least the overall trend appears to be going in the right direction (down). IMO, at some point in time, market demand for technology will force the levy lower, political resistance, notwithstanding.

Thanks for your additional remarks and analysis.

Best regards,

Mark A. Peterson
