A fair answer, Del. I have to say that going into surgery, I found myself making an Act of Contrition, a perfect one! It was not hell that concerned me so much as regret for sin and the fear that I might not live to repair any damage I might have done. The prayer seemed a natural expression of the regret--possibly because of the religious background.
