Security Dynamics Appoints Art Coviello President and Jim Bidzos Vice Chairman

Signals Further Integration of Security Dynamics and RSA Business Units

March 8, 1999 07:30 AM
BEDFORD, Mass., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Security Dynamics Technologies, Inc. SDTI , a leading provider of enterprise network and data security solutions, today, as part of its restructuring, announced the promotions of two members of the Company's senior management, appointing Art Coviello as president and Jim Bidzos as vice chairman of the Company's Board of Directors.
In January 1999, the introduction of the Company's Keon public key infrastructure-based product family represented a major step in more closely integrating the vision, strategy and products of the Security Dynamics and RSA business units. Security Dynamics and RSA operations will now become more tightly integrated under Art Coviello as president of the combined organization.

"The promotion of Art Coviello as president of Security Dynamics is a natural move in our integration of Security Dynamics and RSA operations," said Chuck Stuckey, chairman and CEO of Security Dynamics. "Art, in his role as COO, has been responsible for the daily operations of the Company and, with this promotion, assumes the day-to-day responsibility of the RSA organization as well. We have an exciting opportunity to now take full advantage of the combined strengths of the two businesses and Art's organizational and management skills will be a tremendous asset as we move forward."

Jim Bidzos, in addition to his role as a director, assumes the role of vice chairman of the Board of Directors. In this position, he will take a greater role in shaping the strategy of the combined company and directing corporate development, business relationships, and of course the RSA Conference. Mr. Bidzos has served as president of RSA Data Security for more than 13 years, which under his leadership has become the worldwide leader for encryption technologies.

"Jim has been an invaluable resource for RSA, Security Dynamics and the market as a whole," added Mr. Stuckey. "His vision for encryption technologies and their role in electronic commerce have helped redefine the industry. As we look toward continued growth for the Company, I'm pleased to have Jim in the role of vice chairman."

Today, in a related announcement, Gary Rogers has resigned from his position as senior vice president of worldwide sales and field operations for Security Dynamics. Mr. Rogers will assume the position of senior vice president of sales, marketing and customer support for a start-up company in the networking industry. Until a successor is named, Art Coviello will direct domestic and international sales operations.
