Re: FRB

I will admit that my feelings are biased. So far all that I have seen would indicate that the fed is not nearly an ideal system.

You argument seems to be that:
1. The policiticians cannot be trusted with our monetary system.
2. Therefore we need an "independent" entity to control our monetary system.

However, I find this to be problematic. Why?

1. While our politicians are obviously very human and failable, at least we can elect them in and out of office. That gives the people both indirect control and responsibility for what the officials do.

2. The Fed is NOT in the direct control of the people or the politicians. And as your response confirms, the ownership of the fed does not appear to be known to at least the majority of the population. I have seen it written that the details of ownership have never been reported. How can we trust someone we cannot even identify?

3. The gov't is supposedly entrusted to watch out for the welfare of the populace. Private business and banks has no such responsibility. Their main pupose is to be profitable, within the bounds of the law.

In any case, I think that quite frankly we are both very lacking in terms of factual knowledge of the issues at hand, and as you pointed out we are letting our biases guide our statements.

I would like to suggest that we put this discussion on hold.....I will continue to ask questions and seek knowledge, but I will not try to convince you to accept my view of the situation (my bias) until I have more in the way of factual evidence.

Have a great day!
