Proven to any extent...allows me the room to make my assertions. I admitted that they had occurred, but pointed out that the improvements in the human condition had more to do with OTHER factors, that abortion is probably the least MEANINGFUL of all the factors improving our physical state. Besides, I doubt its use for more serious problems because, as I pointed out (and you ignored), more women are turning down the alpha-fetal protein test.
I like the way you sidestep my strongest arguments, where you are bound to lose, and shift the argument to what you perceive as the weakest link. Invariably, that weak link is not nearly as weak as you hope. Then you just avoid it.

Every one does go through a socialization process. That is true. however, it is up to our parents to teach us that socialization is an artificial net we cast over ourselves to help us "fit in" or conform. To break out of that net is what defines us as individuals.

I do care what my kids watch. But probably less than a fundamentalist and more than white trash. I believe in the concept of "good enough" parenting. Extremes are only useful in extreme situations. We are hardly facing an extreme situation.

Monica's problem are far deeper than Beverly Hills. I think that's apparent. I would hardly blame her inferiority on the town in which she grew up. Lots of girls in my town worry about their weight and are seduced by power....she laid the blame on her upbringing. That's a cop-out.
