Mentor Graphics Takes the Lead in HDL Design; Introduces Complete FPGA Flow WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 1999--Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) today introduced Packaged Power(TM), the electronic design automation industry's most powerful hardware description language (HDL)-based field programmable gate array (FPGA) design flow.
The Packaged Power flow delivers the integrated power and efficiency of three world-class point tools from Mentor Graphics and its subsidiaries: the Renoir(TM) graphical design and management environment; Model Technology's ModelSim(TM) HDL simulator; and Exemplar Logic Inc.'s LeonardoSpectrum(TM) synthesis solution. This HDL-based design flow is primarily for engineers designing medium-to-large FPGAs, and for designers moving across the FPGA/ASIC boundary.
"We have to buy and apply the best electronic design tools available to maintain our leadership in the defense industry," said Tim Kettle, senior design engineer for British Aerospace's Land & Sea Systems Ltd. "Mentor Graphics' highly integrated solution for the FPGA design capture, simulation and synthesis process will be a great boost to our productivity and the quality of our results."
"The increasing complexity of FPGA designs has surpassed the capabilities of most of the toolsets available today," said Kevin Curtis, vice president and general manager of the Mentor Graphics HDL Design Division. "With Packaged Power, Mentor Graphics delivers world-class point tool power with the ease of a highly integrated flow. By using this flow, engineers will get their products to market faster and easier than ever before."
Unmatched Integration
The Renoir tool serves as the foundation for Packaged Power by automating repetitive tasks like HDL compilation, documentation and propagation of design changes. Designers can launch and run both simulation and synthesis from the design management environment. They can also more efficiently analyze results and debug through cross-highlighting, cross-probing and back annotation.
Pricing and Availability
Packaged Power is available immediately through Mentor Graphics' unique multi-tiered distribution network. It comes in two versions, Personal and Elite. The Personal version includes Renoir Personal Designer, ModelSim Personal Edition and LeonardoSpectrum Level 2 for FPGA design. Prices begin at $11,995. The Elite version comes with the full Renoir, ModelSim Elite and LeonardoSpectrum Level 3 for FPGA and ASIC design. Prices begin at $39,995. Both versions are available for VHDL, Verilog or both languages. For a free evaluation and more information on the Packaged Power flow, please visit www.packagedpower.com/mgc.
