Hold on there! You just got interested in the stock market and now you want to write covered calls? Are you serious?? My advice to you is come back after you have had a few years *successful* trading experience. No offence meant here, but this strategy is definitely not for the novice. Also IMO you need a non-trivial amount of money in order to make money this way.

This is no monopoly game. You can lose your shirt very easily if you do not know what you are doing. Success in the stock market cannot be learned from books even though books are definitely helpful. Real personal experience is essential here in the stock market just to keep from losing money. Otherwise you will become another statistic in this stock market game, which I hear most of the people who invest in stock end up becoming.
