Re: IDSL

Dan, when you installed your IDSL line, replacing your existing ISDN, you stated "no change in speed." Was this merely perception, or were you referring to quoted throughput.

My understanding that ISDL makes available the D subchannel for an additional 16 Kbps of useable throughput since no signaling/switching is required on the dedicated line.

I've been weighing myself whether "switching" to IDSL as an interim solution was worth the cost. In this decision, I do weigh somewhat (but not much) the increased bandwidth. I'm curious what your experience has been.

Additionally, what pricing did your ISP lock you into? Right now Flashcom is offering $89/mo + $20/mo lease on the Flowpoint router, & waiver of the setup fee if you're situated in CA. My chief concern at present being locked into a 12 month contract.

TIA for your response.
