March Quarter Tracking To Expectations

[Some info from 2/23 - Credit Suisse]

Rational (RATL-$29 9/32-Cap $2.5B-BUY)
Wendell H. Laidley,
FY99E $0.63, FY00E $0.90

* RATL stock gave back some ground yesterday as old news
regarding insider selling was recycled in the news wires.
* Recent conversations with mgmt combined with feedback
from our sources suggests underlying business momentum
during the March quarter indeed remains strong.
* RATL achieved its March qtr objective of shipping
Suites by 2/11, which should redefine the competitive
landscape and accelerate account penetration.
* Other key selling points include meaningful enterprise
deal pipeline, e-business related demand, partner
leverage (MSFT, IBM), incremental ERP business,
conservative estimates and upside potential.
* No change in estimates or BUY rating. Relative to our 35%
growth assumptions and 12-month price target of $37
(35 times CY00 EPS of $1.07), RATL shares remain attractive.
