That one child policy has made many Chinese spoil their children to an unparalleled degree- I mostly met parents with boys (surprise surprise). The kind of behavior that was tolerated was awful. These children are tiny tyrants- whether their parents (and grandparents- they too spoil these children) are able or desirous of becoming more firm with them as teenagers remains to be seen- but if they do not I cannot imagine how they will become very good citizens- especially in a country where so much depends on citizens acting cooperatively.
