Bill,I have just received in the mail today,Paine Webber(Financial Advisor) overview of the Y2K factor. The news in every major sector is uniformly good in reference to compliance. Technology spending is not slowing as Y2K projects wind down,as many observers had predicted it would(like myself). With Y2K behind them, companies are turning their attention back to spending on IT projects(infomation technology)that do not merely fix systems, but actually improve business process (e commerce). These projects had been put on the back burner. It is also stated that the banks are in the best shape. They are currently in the testing phase of their Y2K programs, with testing required to be complete by June30. Ed Kerschner goes on to explain why most of these Y2K problems were resolved in 1997 and 1998.He believes the big risk likely exists overseas.Since the US.is largely dependent on their commodities,if widespread problems occurred, it would more likely threaten the transportation of raw materials rather than their availability.
