Telemedia Offers Enhanced Service Solution Based on Excel's EXS Switching Platform

HYANNIS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 1999-- Excel Switching Corporation (Nasdaq:XLSW - news), a
leading provider of open switching platforms for telecommunications networks worldwide, announced today that Telemedia
Networks International Limited, a provider of innovative telecommunications systems and consulting services worldwide to
network operators and infrastructure manufacturers, is the newest member of Excel's Partner Program. Telemedia is Excel's
first partner and developer in the New Zealand/Australia region.

Telemedia develops and resells turnkey solutions for enhanced service applications and services to telecom operators
worldwide. The company delivers services such as prepaid calling, voice messaging, call center solutions and intelligent
network platforms. By integrating its applications with Excel's open switching platform, Telemedia can customize offerings to
provide enhanced services based on specific customer demands. With EXS, Telemedia delivers an open, scalable network

Most recently, Telemedia was responsible for integrating, installing and testing a tandem switching solution for CallPlus, a New
Zealand based Long Distance Carrier (IXC). Because Telemedia based its solution on Excel's EXS programmable switching
system, it enabled CallPlus to pass Telecom New Zealand's Signalling System Number 7 (SS7) conformance testing in a
