Sunk costs are sunk, including capitalized software dev costs - wise business decisions ignore sunk costs and focus on the future. With that in mind, since an overhead of support and maintenance must be incurred into the future to support the MANY sites that already have FlowStream, the incremental costs of additional sales are likely a very wise expense.

This is in reply to the following statement:

There are a few FlowStream installation sites, but the common opinion is that the revenue brought into Consilium by this product has never covered the expenses.
