Kevin,

Intel makes straight flash, regular memory that happens to be non-volatile. SanDisk makes flash memory that has bad memory blocks. It is interfaced to like a disk drive that has marked bad sectors. The tech name for this, I believe, is called NAND flash. It can be made more dense sense the memory can tolerate imperfections, thus its much cheaper than Intel flash, but still more expensive than an Iomega Zip drive. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

What I don't understand yet is how they make money. I think they are smart if they are 1)inventing key flash technology and licensing it and then 2) being the marketing arm for the big fabs in Korea. This way they avoid being a competitor of these big guys. Again, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Many companies are slated to second source the Compact Flash format.

I am seeing many other design-ins besides all the ones announced. Can you believe all the design-ins? Why isn't this stock taking off? I don't think Wall Street recognizes the power of design-ins. I think they have a Jerry McGuire attitude of "SHOW ME the MONEY!" I guess us engineers will have to be the ones in early with this stock.

I bet SNDK must burn off some of its bad taste in some investors mouths since it is sitting well off its highs.

Rex
