Red: ML with Lou Dobbs interviewed guy from Solomon Smith Barney. He was asked about PC's. He said next two quarters earnings are very visible. They will be good. After that, some theorise a drop off because of YK2, but he thinks the year will be strong. Current seasonal slowdown is normal as is the drop in share price at this time. Drop has been overdone. Still some very short term risk but it is limited. When asked to recommend he said COMPAQ, despite any short-term risk it may have.

Also, read a report from CPQ spokesman last week that the DELL/IBM deal shows clearly that DELL is a boxmaker dependent on others for technology. No big deal. CPQ already buys more disk drives from IBM than DELL does.

Newcastle sailed thru against the Toffees (who now have to struggle against relegation again). United and Chelsea 0-0 replay on Wednesday even though Chelsea down to 10 men for 48 mins.
