If CPQ can find (and get away with) a $5.0 billion writedown of an essentially "clean" company, it would be no big deal for INTC to do as you suggest. Earlie, come on now. CPQ layed off thousands of people, and essentially scrapped the entire PC business of DEC. Might have been a "clean" stand alone company, but there was plenty of the "in process R&D" that you bears just love <g>. Gary
