You sure are making alot of new friends!

Maybe they're longing for those "good old days" when the Zebra would counter their lunatic rantings to the calm sanity presented by Aunt Lucretia. Instead, we have Rush Limbaugh in Columbian camouflage <ggg>!

Poor little girl. Alot of poverty down there in Columbia. It appears to have chilled your heart. Your hot cup of Joe just turned into a froathy frappiccino! Brrrrrr.....

I agree that the responsibilty falls on the parents, but how is one to survive in this world when those "responsible parents" are crackheads, drug addicts, prostitutes, mental defects, child molestors, or just your general, run of the mill, deadbeats? Take the parents out back and shoot them and then give the little girl the opportunity and guidance she deserves. Someday, she'll stand on her own and, hopefully, she'll make better choices than her stupid parents did. If not, shoot the teacher.

Poverty breeds poverty and it should end there. Some work harder and smarter and find a way out and some remain, passing the poverty onto their kids. Hopefully, those that get out will serve as an example and others may follow his lead. Usually not. It is easier to rob others, sell drugs and collect aid than it is to work. That is the view of some - not mine.

But poverty does not only breed poverty. At least that's what the liberals would have you believe. Usually you hear the left wing slant claiming that poverty also breeds murderers, rapists and crackheads. "Poor, poor so and so. He grew up in the poor section of town so it's ok if he takes a life once in a while or rapes a few women. Afterall, it is justified, he grew up poor!!" Isn't "HE" as much a victim as the person he raped/murdered/robbed?

Give me a break! When did lack of money make a man evil? He had plenty of choices - he just made the wrong one!

I see alot of unfocused anger on the news everyday. Rodney King gets beat up so let's break this window and steal some VCRs or smash this poor truck driver with a brick. Why not channel that anger into something positive instead of destroying someone elses property. (By the way - ol' Rodney was arrested AGAIN the other day for beating up his girlfriend AND her daughter. Nice guy. huh!)

My father was one of 12 kids. He grew up wearing 4th generation hand me downs. They had nothing, and I mean nothing. They even killed their own chickens for food. (I'm sure they walked to school, uphill in a snowstorm too - ggg). The difference is not one kid ended up in jail, or on drugs. They did what they had to do to survive. And that meant working, not robbing. They honored their parents and respected them. They (the men) each served their country during WWII and Korea and today they are all still in touch and they all get together at least once a year.

They grew up poor but that only gave them the incentive to work harder and smarter. None grew up rich but they are ALL doing fine, self supportive and a few own their own business.

Don't seat me on the left yet. I'm as far right as an Amishman but I have alot of compassion for those incabable of helping themselves (kids, mentally or physically challenged, seniors, etc.) I think of myself as a conservative with sanity. <ggg>

Sometimes I get labeled a bleeding heart but I don't really give a crap what others think of me. They can call me whatever they please. Labels mean nothing to me. I only answer to myself, my wife and kids and my conscious - no one else.

I have no compassion for the man who chooses to lie in the gutter, swimming in his own drug induced vomit while extending his arm for a handout. He is not a victim - he was just dealt a bad hand. He should stay in the game and play his cards to the best of his ability. Anyone can fold their hand and lie down. It takes more than a winner to stay in the game; it takes a winning attitude - something many winners don't possess.

No, this man is not a victim at all. In fact, it is I who will become the victim if I choose to donate and help support his cause. If he is mentally and physically capable of working, than that is where he should be - on the job. (Of course, he should complete a few 12 step programs and a hot bath first. <gg>)

No self respecting man would choose to rape, rob, kill or lie down in the gutter. Herein lies the difference. The lack of self respect caused the problem - not the lack of money!

I think I've worked in Manhatten a little too long.
