March 9, 1999 (SEOUL) -- Personal computers with higher storage capacity are hitting the market in Korea, causing a rise in demand for 64Mb memory chips to replace 32Mb and 16Mb chips.
Korean PC makers started to use 64Mb memory chips in their new PCs this year to enable their systems to handle various pictures and software from the Internet and 3-D graphics.

An upgraded memory chip is essential these days, said an industry watcher.

A high-speed PC equipped with a Rambus chip is expected to show up this fall, which is another jump for the local market.
