Company Press Release

National League Champion San Diego Padres
Sell Out ''Virtual'' TV Ad Inventory for Entire
1999 Season

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 1999--The National League Champion San Diego
Padres have sold out their inventory of ''virtual'' TV ads for the 1999 baseball season and have nearly doubled
the number of advertisers using virtual advertisements, according to Princeton Video Image Inc. (Nasdaq:PVII -
news, www.pvimage.com - news), the exclusive provider of virtual insertion services to the Padres, and the
leading provider of virtual advertising and insertion services to broadcasters and professional sports.

PVI, which said additional announcements concerning 1999 baseball deals would be announced shortly, said
the Padres have increased their advertiser revenue 25 percent over last year's total.

In virtual advertising, broadcasters insert advertising messages into telecasts so that the ads appear as part of
the live stadium scene. Its most common use in baseball is to place signs or animated images along the wall
behind home plate. The ads can be combined with graphics, such as a pitch speed indicator, to create a
dynamic enhancement to the game's action.

''What the National League Champion San Diego Padres do sets an example for other franchises,'' said
Dennis Wilkinson, PVI president and chief executive officer. ''Insertion technology lets broadcasters add to
viewers' enjoyment of the game while increasing the effectiveness of advertising. It works to everyone's
advantage.''

Wilkinson said that advertisers expected to use virtual insertions during this year's Padres telecasts include
Toyota, Pacific Bell, Carl's Jr., Yahoo and Office Depot.

''PVI's technology brings advertisers through the door. Our advertisers are extremely pleased with the benefits
of this seamless technology,'' said Larry Lucchino, president and CEO of the San Diego Padres. ''We have
sold out our 1999 inventory due to the flexibility and high visibility of the digitally inserted homeplate signage,''
said Mike Dee, San Diego Padres Vice President/Corporate Development.

Princeton Video Image Inc., the worldwide leader in virtual advertising and imaging solutions for television, has
developed and is marketing a real-time video insertion system that, through patented pattern recognition
technology, places computer-generated electronic images into television broadcasts of sporting events as well
as other programming.

These electronic images range from simple corporate names and logos to sophisticated 3-D images and
animated effects. PVI has provided video insertion services for nearly 1,000 live telecasts worldwide, including
broadcasts of Major League Baseball, National League Football, professional soccer, motor sports, and other
live events. The company has headquarters in Lawrenceville, N.J., with offices in New York City.
